Base description:

Plumer’s (Plume-er) are large feathered lizards that are extremely shy. They live only in rocky forested terrains and are incredibly rare. They are too scared to go out in the open so they like to move in bushes, trees, and on shaded cliffs.

Plumer feathers are super colorful. Every Plumer has a different pattern, but each has green as their primary color. You can sometimes find random feathers, but it doesn’t necessarily mean one is close. You can tell how old they are by if they have white feathers. All white means it’s a baby, a mix of white and color is a juvenile, and all color means it’s an adult.

They like to travel all alone, with their mate, or as a whole family. Their diet primarily consists of bugs with the occasional fruit.

Reproduction:

When two find each other as mates, they dig a den into rock before going out to find sticks to make a nest inside the den. When they mate, they floof up into a big feathery ball. There seems to be both male and female genders, but no distinct difference in the way they look. The only way that I’ve been able to tell the difference, is by which one lays the eggs into the nest. When the eggs are laid, both use plucked feathers to cover them up to protect them.

They seem to produce a span of three to five eggs at a time. When the eggs hatch, the babies are featherless, but only for about a month.

Fighting style:

Plumer’s don’t actually attack, other than when they go to snatch up a bug to eat. When a plumer gets startled or sees a creature get too close, it puffs out all of its feathers. Making it a big colorful ball to try to either scare off the creature, or just to surprise it enough to get an opportunity to run away.

Plumer’s are also very fast and nimble, allowing them to out-juke any predator trying to catch it.

Edibility:

Plumer meat, as some of you may already know, is a Venyx delicacy. You can find dishes made with it in the more expensive part of some of the restaurants here on Venyx. The feathers are also great for decorative and clothing purposes. Though the feathers are not as valuable due to the amount found on a single plumer, but they can still be sold for a decent amount due to the rarity of the creatures. The eggs are also really high in protein, and can be a good replacement in about any recipe needing eggs.

Myths:

Some hunters have come up with a story saying that there is a “Plumer Haven” somewhere deep underground.
