Base description:

Stalkers are the most common fauna on Venyx. They can be found in nearly every biome except for the barren mountains. They have big armor plates only on the front, and the color of the plates seem to reflect the biome they grew up in. While the rest of the body is just dark gray skin to help with mobility. Stalkers in the colder biomes tend to grow thick coats of fur. Only the eyes and skin seem to reflect light some how, making them even more difficult to see in the dark. They normally travel either alone or in pairs.

Reproduction:

Their mating season seems to be late spring. Two males will try to find find a female to mate with and will battle to the death to win the female. They seem to have some respect for one another as other males will ignore those who are already fighting, or those that have already won. After mating, the two cannibalize the male that lost. Stalker seem to give birth to about three to four pups on average. Unlike usual, when the pups are born the male stays behind and the female goes out to hunt.

Fighting style:

Stalkers don’t normally try to start a fight, but instead try to kill their pray as fast as possible by pouncing on it when it least expects it. Though they are not afraid to get in a fight if they get spotted. In order to hide they are able to flare their plates to make a sort of camouflage. But while doing this, their back is completely exposed and they can’t really tell what’s behind them. While the plates are tough, their skin is somewhat weak. Making their back half a good weak spot. Stalkers tend to go hunting whenever, including night. So it’s best to keep a constant look out.

Edibility:

While they are technically edible, their meat is very tough. Highly recommended only eating in a survival situation. It’s claws are super sharp, great for making knives. The plates are tough, but the best use for them would be making camouflage. And while the skin of a normal stalker is pretty much only good for leather, the fur from a cold stalker would be grate for making clothing and blankets.
